A Psychologist Vs Therapist
It is generally seen that people consider a psychologist, a therapist as well as a counselor in the same light and regard them to be same. Though all three of them might be mental health professionals but when considering their work profile one can see that there is some difference between these three. The major difference between a psychologist, a therapist as well as a counselor arises on the basis of their education and the subsequent training that they receive.
When talking of a professional practicing psychologist it is seen that he would be having a PhD in psychology. While on the other hand a therapist and a counselor would be having a masters degree. Also it is seen that apart from helping helping the clients take care of their mental health a psychologist will also at most times be involved in a research project which a therapist or counselor would usually not get involved in.
In the case of a therapist and a counselor, it is seen that people go for limited and short visits to a counselor while their treatment with a therapist might extend much longer. Counselors help people to navigate through certain specific issues in their life at certain specific times. A therapist on the other hand is often approached to help take care of their problems for a longer duration of time. The therapist also takes an in depth approach to help solve the patients mental anguish.
